"I am fortunate to have a profession that is so fulfilling - one that I can pursue wherever I am." |
Ros Goody has been painting for as long as she can remember. Her first artistic memory is drawing horses and by the age of eleven she was sketching her friends’ ponies at Pony Club in rural Shropshire, England. Encouraged by family and teachers to pursue her love of drawing and painting beyond school she studied at Shrewsbury School of Art. Here she found confidence in herself and brought together the various techniques with which she had experimented. “Whichever medium you use; pencil, paint, pen or charcoal, being able to draw the simple form is the key.”
A BBC publisher saw her work and commissioned some drawings for a television series and book. From this beginning, Ros started to hold exhibitions of her work. She was exhibiting successfully throughout England from the mid-1970s. |
Ros migrated to Australia in 1990 and quickly established a name in the art scene in her new country. She now works from a studio in the garden of her rural property near the Blue Mountains in New South Wales. Ros spends her time between Australia and England, painting and exhibiting in both countries.
