I am often asked to create a composition in paint or pencil for someone to capture a special moment or memory, depicting people, places, children or animals. Usually, these paintings are commissioned by the subject's family or friends. Meeting and getting to know the subjects as I collect images and photographs for the work gives me a great feeling and special insight into the lives of the people involved. I love creating informal portraits of people and animals, in relaxed mode or working, but doing something that they are enjoying! I have to observe, carefully and sensitively to understand the personality of my subjects, human and animal, so that their characters come through in my work.
